Melbourne Heli provide helicopter flight and theory training. We are also active in aerial photography, specialising in getting photographers into those hard to reach airspaces, and we operate as a helicopter tour agency, offering flights ranging from joy rides around Melbourne, to custom tours throughout Victoria.

Our pilots have varied backgrounds and industry experience, working together with a collective goal to help students grow and complete their studies in a professional and supportive environment. We want to share our love of flying and always aim to create unique experiences for those looking for an adventure.

We are an issuing agent for Aviation ID Australia, and can assist students and aircrew in obtaining their Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).

We are located at Essendon Airport, just a 20-minute drive from the city centre.

After a cup of tea and your introductory 'effect of controls' lesson at our base, you'll be ready jump in the pilot's seat to see for yourself what we believe is one of the most exhilarating experiences in life.

Upon your return we'll sit down with you for a debrief to answer any and all questions you may have about the flight, and options for your training pathway.

The Pilot Experience + Hovering (45 min flight)

You'll start this little adventure at our base with one of our Instructors taking you through the 'effects of controls' brief, describing the basics of helicopter flight before we head out onto the apron and put you in the pilot's seat for your first flight around Melbourne.

As we fly around the city your Instructor will hand the controls over to you one by one, until you're in full control. Upon your return to the Airfield, we'll set down on our grassy training area and shift into a hover manoeuvre, once again handing over the controls.

We finish with a debrief back at the base, where we'll answer any questions you might have about your future career in aviation.
